During Apple’s WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) Steve Jobs announced that Safari would now also be for windows. So what does this mean? Well it’s great news for developers and designers, because now we can test our sites on Safari if we don’t own a mac (I don’t own one…yet). The other thing this means is that if developers want to develope an app for the iPhone, the platform is Safari. So once again developers that don’t own Macs can develope for the iPhone. As far as general users are concerned this give you another choice for what web browser you want. I like using Safari it is very clean and looks great. My only small complaint is that there is no button for opening another tab, but that’s a small problem.

Well i just installed it yesterday and i ran into a bug. Actually a HUGE bug. The application loads and all but i see no text. There are no fonts. I mean no text on the menu, no text on the site, nowhere, only images and layout. I have no idea how to fix this. I think i am better off waiting for the final version.

Wow that stinks, it works fine for me. Maybe try reinstalling it.

I don’t think it will help. I read on the web somewhere that the fonts database is messed up. It can happen if you have too many fonts, which i do. I have like 1000 so i need to remove lots of them for it to work and thats a very hard task considering i have to remove them one by one, that is because if i remove a big chunk i might remove system or default fonts like Verdana or Arial.
I will just wait for the final version.

@ Thomas. Exactly the same happened to me. And I too have 1000+ fonts on my system. And I too am waiting for the final release. I will still probably prefer FF though…

After the initial excitement of using safari on my PC died down, I have found that I use FF all the time instead of Safari. Thats a pretty bad bug though.
